A |                                                           [앵커]경찰은 이번 사건을 계기로 최근 3년간 전국에서 접수된 실종 사건을 모두 조사하겠다고 밝혔습니다.그런데 30만 건이 넘는 사건을 석 달 동안 어떻게 전부 보겠단 건지, 이것부터가 의문입니다.이정은 기자가 취재했습니다. [리포트] 장미란 씨 실종 사건이 불거진 뒤 그동안 경찰이 실종 신고들을 어떻게 처리해 왔는지, 원점에서부터 다시 살펴봐야 한단 지적이 일었습니다. [이재명 대통령/어제/국무회의 : "문제들을 최소화하기 위한 노력도 끊임없이 계속돼야 되겠고 또 그와 같은 문제를 해결하기 위한 시스템 정비도 사실 좀 필요합니다."] 결국, 경찰은 최근 3년간 접수된 실종 사건 전수 조사에 나섰습니다. 서울 9만 2천여 건, 경기 남부 7만 7천여 건 등, 전국적으로 30만 건이 넘는 사건들이 대상입니다. 앞으로 석 달간, 경찰서별로 전담팀을 구성해, 장 씨 사례처럼 '비대면'으로 종결한 사건을 중심으로, 신고부터 종결까지 모든 과정을 살펴본 뒤, 문제가 있다면 재수사하겠다는 방침입니다.관건은 이를 일일이 확인할 인력 투입이 가능할지 여부인데, 전국 261개 경찰서 중 실종 전담팀을 갖춘 곳은 절반이 조금 넘는 수준에 불과합니다. 그마저도 전담 수사 인력은 줄어들고 있습니다. [이윤호/동국대 경찰행정학과 명예교수 : "심각성, 긴급성을 중심으로 우선순위를 정하는데, 실종 사건은 그런 우선순위의 심각성이나 긴급성에서 밀렸다는 얘기가…."] 경찰은 한 명에 불과했던 야간 실종 수사 인력을 2명 이상으로 늘리는 등, 실종수사 체계도 재정비할 방침입니다.
